Ok, the New Year is almost here. A lot of our resolutions have to do with health, fitness, weight loss or an over all better well-being (have you seen my goal sheet?). I think working out and eating healthy is a lifestyle choice and for the last few years, I’ve tried to stick to making it a routine in my life. If you are looking to make a lifestyle change and some tools to keep you on track, I wanted to share my workout routine and a tool to help your fitness goals.
If you watch my snapchat, you probably see I go to Oak Fitness Club in Beverly Hills about twice a week. I’ve worked out with my trainer there Nikki for almost five years! She has been incredible in my life to keep me on track and to find what works for me. I’ve never been the type of person to love working out, but I am consistent about making fitness a lifestyle choice for me.
In a perfect world, I would go to pilates two times a week and do cardio 2-3 times a week. I start most work outs with a 30 minute cardio session. I really like the elliptical because it tones my legs, warms up my body and gets my heart rate up before I start pilates. I got the Samsung Gear S2 watch for Christmas and one of the tools on there under activity is elliptical. It tracks my workout and my heart rate for me, so I can be sure I’m in that fat burning zone. Once I’m done with my 30 minute warm up, its time for pilates.
Pilates has gotten me to the points in my life where I’ve been the happiest with my body and the most toned. The whole session you are using your core to help you balance, so it really helps with a flat tummy. We do this workout for one hour on the reformer, seen above, and also on the cadillac machine. We use a combination of these two machines along with my own body weight to do various exercises and stretches. The move I’m doing above is pulling my knees up to my chest while in a plank which is a full body workout, focusing on the core. I workout with a personal trainer, but you can find a local class that offers pilates on machines to try the same techniques as I do. I prefer these over mat pilates.
MY FITNESS ROUTINE
- 1hour 30min total cardio; 30 minutes of cardio 2-3 times a week (elliptical 30min, spin class or hiking one hour each)
- Pilates on reformer or cadillac 1 hour 2 times a week
- 8 glasses of water a day
Not only is working out important but also what you put into your body. Two of my New Year’s Goals are to drink more water and to have my phone in my hand less. So I’ve also been using the Samsung Gear S2 watch to help me track my water intake. If I have a bottle of water, I count this as two glasses. Since receiving the gift, I’ve gotten so much use out of it. It tracks my daily total steps, helps me monitor my heart rate during cardio and sends me my (much needed) instagram notifications.
I was in awe at how much to smart watch could do. It gives me a little silent vibrate on my wrist anytime a notification goes off on my phone that I paired via bluetooth. So instead of having to obsessively check my phone every time something goes off, I can look down at my wrist instead … my Mom thinks its much more polite. If you want to try out this Samsung Gear S2, I got it here at Macy’s.

There are many things that help us with exercise. It can be a watch, comfortable sneakers or just comfortable clothes. It is important that they contribute to successful exercises.
