If you have combination skin like me, this post is for you! I’m going to walk you through an easy foundation routine that helps with oily areas, redness, and any other skin concern. Make Up For Ever gifted me with this gorgeous set of HD makeup and I’m excited to show you all how I’ve been wearing it. Also everything I’m using is designed to look flawless on camera, so all my aspiring TV hosts, news anchors, and YouTubers, listen up!
I start out with a color correcting primer to cancel out the redness around my nose. If you’re like me and only have redness in certain areas, apply Make Up For Ever Redness Correcting Primer in those areas only. The green pigments cancel out redness, add radiance, and keep skin hydrated. No need to color correct your entire face, just the areas that need it.
Now I use a second primer for my oily areas, for me its my T-zone. I dab a bit of Make Up For Ever Mattifying Primer on my forehead and down the bridge of my nose. It keeps my skin from getting shiny and makes my foundation last longer. Oh and if you have large pores, give this one a try. It helps to reduce pore size and give your makeup a more even, flawless look.
Okay now on to foundation. I get a lot of questions about what are the best foundations for being on camera and Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Fluid Foundation is perfect for this. That’s where the whole “HD” part comes from, this is makeup that looks so good that you can wear it on camera even in high def. It’s lightweight, buildable, and comes in 40 shades. Even under a 4k lens you’re good with this stuff.
To highlight, I use the stick version of the HD foundation. If you’re not sure which Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick Foundation is right for you, just choose a color that’s about two shades lighter than your HD foundation. Since they’re basically the same formula they blend together beautifully. The only difference is the stick foundations offer full coverage, so they’re perfect for highlighting, covering blemishes, or using them instead of your concealer (which is what I’m doing.)
After I set my foundation with Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder, I reach for one of my favorite pinky, peachy, nudes. Just like the foundations and primers, these stay put and will look amazing on camera. Check out the full range of Make Up Forever Artist Plexi-Gloss Lip Lacquers here.
All done! My redness is covered, my oily areas are under control, and I have a subtle, camera-ready highlight. Even with the layers of products, everything feels lightweight on my skin and I love the natural finish. So who has combination skin out there? Do you mix primers? Who’s tried the Make Up For Ever HD foundations? Let’s swap stories!
