If there’s one thing I recommend splurging on it’s makeup brushes. Even if you have to buy one at a time until you can build up your kit, I always encourage my friends to spend a little more on professional grade brushes. Right now I’m using the SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO brushes and I’m loving them. I’ve already cleaned them a few times and I’m really impressed with the quality. The SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO brushes are hand shaped with gorgeous long elegant handles with fibers that won’t stain. They’ve been dipped in black lacquer nine times so you don’t have to worry about them fading or peeling.
This collection of brushes is more than just pretty to look at, I’m going to show you my new everyday Fall makeup routine and how I use them for each step.
After I’ve cleansed and primed, I apply my foundation with the SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Foundation Brush #47 . I use gentle swiping motions so that I get a thin layer that my skin can absorb. Today I’m using Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. It gives me a healthy glow but not something that’s so dewy that it would be more Summery than Fall.
Next comes concealer. I’m using the SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Precision Concealer Brush #45 with Tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. The brush has a precise, fine tip that makes it easy to get concealer up to the waterline and in the tear ducts.
Now that my skin and undereye area is evened out, it’s time to add start adding dimension. The highlighter I’m using is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector and I’m applying it with the SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Contour Highlight Brush #80. It’s easy to overdo it when it comes to applying highlighter, but this brush gives me a lot of control. It’s tapered so it makes it easy to work on the planes of your face and is fluffy enough to almost blend your highlight as you apply.
To keep my concealer and highlight in place, I set with a very small amount of translucent powder. To me this is one of the most important steps in getting a natural look. I use the SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Contour Brush #79 for this step, the fibers are super fine making it easy to pick up tiny amounts of product at a time. The powder I’m using for this look is Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder.
Just because it’s Fall doesn’t mean I want to deal with heavy makeup. I keep my contour natural-looking and prefer to use powders over creams. If you’re a contouring-newbie, I recommend using the SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Angled Blush Brush #49. Place it under your cheekbone and swipe upward, the brush does the rest.
My everyday eyeshadow routine is pretty simple. I use the color “Black Lace” from the Sephora Collection Colorful Eyeshadow Filter Palette in Overcast with the Tapered Crease Brush. I’ve never been crazy about exaggerated eyeshadows. I add warmth to my crease and shimmer on my lids, but I keep the overall look very minimal.
For my lid and tear ducts I use the Sunbleached Filter shade from the same palette with the SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Smudge Brush #11. It’s dome shaped so you can use it to pack on color and blend as well.
I finish with a bit of liquid liner and mascara. The liner is Sephora Collection Colorful Wink-It Felt Liner Waterproof in black and my mascara is Diorshow Iconic Mascara.
To add a little more dimension to my cheeks, I add an illuminating powder near my temples with the SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Contour Brush #79. The powder I’m using is Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Powder. If you prefer moisture or SPF powders this brush works well for those, too.
It’s tempting to want to jump right into dark lipsticks in the Fall season, but for me that doesn’t work for everyday. Plus I love my nudes too much to let them go! My everyday color right now is the Urban Decay lipliner in “Liar” with the Sephora Collection Shine Lip Gloss #14 Shiney Natural Look.
Here’s the finished look!
