Getting to the gym isn’t easy for a lot of us. In between working all day long, and dealing with different commitments outside of work, it can get tough to pencil in that time for ourselves. I’ve recently picked back up on my workouts, and I wanted to share with you guys how I stay motivated even when things get really busy.
Determine Your Goals
The only person who can determine your health and fitness goals is you. Make some time to jot down a list of your fitness-related goals and stick to it. Do you want more lean muscle? Do you want a stronger upper body? Do you want to run faster? This is all up to you to decide and figure out. Now it’s time to put those goals into action.
Make a Plan
Busy working women understand how difficult it can be to pencil in workout time, but that’s what planning ahead is for. Every Sunday, sit down and decide what days and times you want to work out and what workout you’d like to do. This is the time to determine if you’re going to go to spin class on Monday, pilates on Wednesday, and so on.
Book Non-Refundable Classes
This is one way that a lot of us get to the gym. Booking a non-refundable gym class makes you more committed to showing up, because who likes to lose money? Probably none of us. If you really have trouble making it to the gym, consider this an extra source of motivation since it messes with your wallet.
Listen to New Playlists, Podcast, and Audiobooks
If you think you’re too busy to work out, then you’re likely too busy to catch up on all of your favorite podcasts, read a book, or discover some new music. Solve this problem by putting together your ideal workout playlist, listen to a podcast, audiobook, etc. Keep in mind that this is best for a solo workout if you decide not to book a gym class.
Make It a Group Effort
If you don’t enjoy solo workouts, make it a group activity. Gather your friends or co-workers and hit up the gym together. Try a group spin or yoga class to get you started, as these are either really fun or relaxing. Some gyms offer special group rates as well, so you can all save some money if you decide to take this route.
