Summer vacation is over, but wether for work or the upcoming Holiday season many of us will be traveling. As you know, I’m always on the road and sometimes it isn’t so easy to workout. Between feeling jet lagged, busy or just can’t find a gym it can be hard to stay on track when traveling but I’m sharing some tips for staying fit no matter where you are.
If you go to your regular spin class and pilates sessions at home, likely on vacation there won’t be the same types of workouts. Rethink your routine and try to find a local class or go for a run outside to get your blood moving. *tip* This also seems to help me get over jet lag.
THROW IT IN THE BAG
My pilates trainer always has me pack a resistance band and a jump rope so if I don’t have access to a gym or equipment, I can do some small exercises and cardio on my own.
TRY A NEW HOBBY
When I travel, depending on how adventurous I’m being, I like to try new hobbies that are fun but also double as a workout. Paddle boarding is great for your core and not too difficult to pick up easily. Visiting Los Angeles? Go for a hike. In New York City, go for a run around central park.
USE YOUR IPHONE + WALK
I have the Nike+ app on my phone but under Health as well there are programs tied to your iPhone to help promote healthy living. Keep track how many steps or how long you’ve walked each day just sight seeing, you may be surprised how many steps you get in just walking around a new city. Plus its a great way to explore!
