I’ve always believed that lipstick completes any makeup look. Whether you’re going for something neutral or something on the edgier side, the right lip color won’t only make you look good, it’ll make you feel good too. If you’ve been keeping up with my posts lately, I’m sure you’ve noticed the ongoing theme of me switching my routines for winter, and that’s no different for makeup.
While I typically keep my everyday makeup on the more neutral side, I do like to play around with different lip colors every now and then. For winter, I like everything from darker browns to moodier purples in between my go-to nude and peachier tones. Keep reading for some of my top lipstick picks for this season!
This new collection from Becca is available in over 30 shades, and this spiced rose hue is one of my favorites. It has a bit of a more neutral finish, but the color is buildable if you prefer more pigment. I like this shade for when I’m going for a bronzy look.
I believe that we should all have a classic red lipstick as part of our vanities. Not only is it a universal color, but red comes just in time for Valentine’s Day. This limited-edition lip color will have you ready to go for any V-day plans you might have in store.
One of the bolder colors you can try this winter is a dark brown lipstick. A lot of people tend to shy away from brown lip colors, but they’re not as intimidating as they come across. This one is perfect for a night out, a special event, or if you just feel like stepping out of your comfort zone.
Another lip trend that I’m a big fan of is lip contouring. This Tom Ford lip color makes the process easier thanks to the lip brush. You can easily sculpt your lips and intensify the color as you go. I like this berry shade for a pop of color in the winter.
This drugstore matte formula is one of the best-sellers in the market. The pigment stays on for hours and sits comfortably on your lips all day long. You also don’t need to apply several coats of it to get the most out of the color which is also a huge plus. I like this burnt orange/Auburn tint because it can be worn as a neutral or a statement lip shade.
Another one of the bolder colors I love for winter is an eggplant, vampy purple hue. It’s a bit edgier than what I would normally wear, but it’s fun for once in a blue moon. This is definitely a color I’d wear for a night out or an event, versus every day. I like this one from Fenty Beauty because it’s both long-lasting and doesn’t crease throughout the day.
Another trend that I’ve seen lately is powder-like lipsticks. This one from Chanel looks like a matte but has a powdery, soft finish. If you’re into the blurred, just-kissed effect on your lips, then this one is great for you. I’m a big fan of this deep pink shade.
