If you’ve been following my blog and social channels for the last few years, you’ll know I’m a huge fan of pilates. It’s my favorite workout and it’s completely changed the way I view fitness and it’s changed my life, really. I’ve been working with my trainer, Amanda Kassar, who instructs private pilates sessions, for a few years now and my body feels stronger than it’s ever been. With my constant traveling and busy schedule, pilates sessions have helped me maintain my fitness goals and take my body’s strength to a whole new level. Here, I’m listing some of the benefits I’ve experienced from the popular workout.
While a lot of us would like to get stronger, we often fear that we’ll bulk up our muscles. Pilates is a great way to help yourself become stronger while building lean muscles. You’re stretching your muscles to their full extension and then contracting them, which helps prevent bulkiness. The equipment has also been a huge reason as to why I now have a strong core and abdomen definition in the upper and lower parts of my stomach.
Since I spend a lot of my time in planes, cars, or at a desk, my posture deals with a lot of strain. Thankfully, Pilates has helped me maintain a much better and more upright posture whether I’m sitting or standing. This helps me appear less sluggish and more presentable and prevents any back issues that I can come across later on in life.
It Eases Pain
Surprisingly enough, Pilates can help with easing pain in your back and neck. While this pain can also be a result of poor posture, Pilates’ strength-benefits can help weak backs and necks. Working to strengthen the muscles throughout your body with Pilates can help support your back and your neck, while the stretching factor of the exercise can help ease any already-existing pain in either of those areas.
