How I Keep My Skin Safe In The Sun

Growing up, wearing sunscreen always felt like a chore. It was heavy and pasty, and as kids, all we want to do is have fun in the sun and get in some water. Today, I fully understand why it’s important to wear SPF daily and the consequences that may follow if you don’t. We should protect ourselves from the sun’s harmful UV rays daily, and make wearing SPF  a regular habit. Ahead, learn more about how I keep my skin safe in the sun plus my new video on summer beauty and sunscreen.

Wear Sunscreen Daily

One of the biggest misconceptions about sun protection is that sunscreen should only be worn in the summertime. The truth is that the key to keeping your skin safe is wearing sunscreen every day, no matter the season. Harmful UV rays are always present, even when the sun isn’t shining. It only takes a few seconds of your time to apply SPF, so there’s no excuse for not wearing it daily.

Apply Often

If you’re spending hours out in the sun, you should definitely keep reapplying your sunscreen throughout the day. Your skin absorbs the active ingredients in sunscreen a lot quicker when you’re directly exposed to the sun. You should also keep in mind that sweating and water activities will make it wear off faster as well. In other words, don’t just apply it in the morning and then forget about it for the rest of the day.

Always Have SPF Available

The more you see it, the more you’ll wear it. Keep some SPF in your bag, make it visible in your bathroom or bedroom, or whatever else you have to do to have a visual reminder. Once you see it, you’ll immediately remember to apply it, and it’ll eventually become a part of your daily routine.

Wear SPF-Infused Makeup

There’s plenty of makeup available now that is infused with SPF. From foundations and concealers to setting sprays and powders, it’s literally everywhere. However, with that being said, these products shouldn’t be considered a replacement for regular sunscreen. Think of them as an added layer of protection that also happen to be really great makeup staples.
