We’ve been practicing social distancing for a few weeks now, and I’m trying to take this transition and make it the best that I can. Since this is our new “normal” after all, I’ve taken it upon myself to find ways to stay productive while staying in touch with my family and friends (all while practicing self-care, of course). I’ve heard from a lot of you that this hasn’t been the easiest time, and while it’s okay to feel that way, I still wanted to share some things that have helped me pass the time and enjoy this time at home.
At Home Workouts
Zoom Calls with Friends
I’ve loved seeing everyone share their Zoom calls, happy hours, group workouts, and more. It reminds me of the days when we would all hop on our webcams to chat on the weekends, except now it’s just our new reality. Everyone has gotten so creative, even through a simple web call! We’ve seen Zoom happy hours, DJ sets, and even dates. I love it. Doing this throughout the week has really helped me stay in touch with my loved ones and it’s given me a bigger sense of appreciation for being able to hang out with them (even if it’s virtually).
Today my friends and I are actually working out together on a zoom video call!
Now I’ve been binge-watching shows and movies just as much as the rest of you, but Netflix is really changing the game! Since we’re all staying home, Netflix’s Party plugin has come in handy. If you’re not familiar with it, Netflix created an online plugin that allows you to watch your favorite movies and TV shows with friends. It’s just like getting together for your usual movie night, except you all have the comfort of your own beds and couches. It doesn’t get any better than this.
Some recent Netflix shows I’ve watched are Tiger King, Ozarks Season 3 and not so recent but a favorite is You (season 1 and 2 are out now!)
A Book Club
I hopped on Instagram last week and was blown away by your response to me starting a book club. I made it happen! A bunch of us all over the world are reading Little Fires Everywhere, which was perfect since the Hulu series just came out. If you need a book with plenty of twists and turns, pick up a copy of Celeste Ng’s novel. I can’t wait to keep this going as we stay home for a few more weeks!
If you’re reading it along with me, we’ll be discussing it on my instagram this Saturday, April 4th.
I’ve always been honest with you guys about the fact that I don’t cook much from scratch, but that’s all been changing as of late. I’ve been experimenting in the kitchen, making my favorite foods, and trying some new ones. It’s a great way to pass the time and take my mind off of everything that’s going on in the world, even if it’s just for a few minutes. P.S., I’ve also been sharing my meals on Instagram since a lot of you requested “What I Eat in a Day” style content.
I recently bought an air fryer and a toaster oven to test out some fun healthy recipes. I also made these incredible low carb donut muffins, you can find the recipe here!
