Shop Small & Local For The Holidays

Small businesses to support this holiday season

2020 has been a rough year for small businesses around the country, so I’m doing my best to support small and local brands and designers as I work through my holiday list. Here are some of my favorites that I’ll be shopping at this year.

Thirteen Lune

This is a new beauty retailer that is focusing on BIPOC-owned brands, especially ones that cater to BIPOC customers and concerns. I love that all of the brands that are carried at Thirteen Lune are independent, small businesses that I might not have heard of otherwise. They currently carry a multitude of products for skin, body, and hair, but are quickly expanding with more options.

Aureum Collective

Owned by my friend and fellow influencer Cass Dimicco (check out her episode on my podcast!), Aureum makes statement jewelry for every occasion. I love that the pieces are such standouts in any collection. You can wear them dressed up or down, with sweats or a gown. Any jewelry lover in your life will love anything from Aureum.

Brandon Blackwood

You’ve probably been seeing Brandon Blackwood’s line popping up all over Instagram, and for good reason. He makes unbelievably beautiful luxurious handbags, all at an affordable price point. His collections often sell out quickly so make sure you turn on post notifications on Instagram and sign up for his email list so you can be notified of restocks.

I’m always so excited when I get to support my friends’ businesses, and Desi Perkins’ line of sunglasses is one that I’m more than happy to plug. Sunglasses are such an obvious move for Desi, which is why her collection is so good. Her sunnies are so chic and high fashion, all at an affordable price point. The frames are also really unique so you’ll be able to find things that your loved ones don’t already have in their collections.

The Source Unknown

I’m constantly looking for fashion brands that are lesser-known but still chic, which is why I was so thrilled when my Instagram algorithm showed me The Source Unknown. It’s a minimalist brand — totally my aesthetic — that embraces strong silhouettes and features like padded shoulders and asymmetric hems. Clothes from their line are perfect for the fashionista in your life who wants statement pieces in their wardrobe.

Forvr Mood

One more friend to plug! Jackie Aina’s line of candles is perfect for literally everyone on your list. She has scents to match every, well, mood, and the jars are so cute, you can use them for decor afterward. Grab one of her collection sets so you can gift a couple candles and keep the others for yourself. and they smell sooooo good.

Goodies LA

You all know how much I love decorating my house, but I know it can get expensive. That’s why I’m so glad Goodies LA exists. It’s a local LA chain that focuses on sustainable, affordable home decor. They have three collections — Ceramic, Wood, and Marble — and have pieces ranging from flatware and utensils to catch-all trays and jewelry dishes. They even have some small furniture. The best parts? Everything is $25 and under, and they focus on sustainable practices. It’s a win all around! Pick up some things for your loved ones, and maybe even grab somethings for your place, too.

Hope this helped as you wrap up your last minute shopping! (Forgive the pun.) Let me know what your favorite brands are on this list!
