Getting in a good workout is always an accomplishment. However, just because you enjoyed a sweat session, doesn’t mean you should entirely forget about your skin. Post-workout skincare is so important for a variety of reasons, as too much sweat can backfire. Washing your face immediately after a workout can help prevent breakouts, clogged pores, and more. Continue reading for why it’s crucial to cleanse your skin right after a workout.
Do you suffer from sudden breakouts or back acne? Well, unfortunately working out can affect that. If you don’t thoroughly cleanse your skin, you can experience a sudden increase in acne on both your face and your body. Your body is trying to cool down post-workout, and letting sweat sit on your skin won’t help you in the long run.
Bacteria Spreads Quickly
Like, very quickly. If sweat dries on your face, it immediately seeps into your pores and can cause an unnecessary amount of dirt and oils deep in your skin. Sweat, dirt, and oils can all act as acne-causing toxins, and then you’re left with zits, buildup, and a lot of bacteria. Because you allowed time for it all to get deeper into your pores, you’ll have to work harder to draw it all out.
A Makeup Wipe Isn’t Enough
A lot of us tend to stash makeup wipes in our bag for before and after the gym. However, if you’re giving your skin a quick wipe before working out, your face isn’t entirely clean during your workout and definitely isn’t after. Because of all the sweat and bacteria accumulated during exercise, you should use a gentle cleanser once you’re done. However, if all you have on you is wipes then be sure to use them and then thoroughly wash your face as soon as you can.
