As an influencer, it’s part of my job to try and provide feedback on the products that I’m offered or come across when I’m shopping. I’m a total skincare junkie and love switching up my skincare routine every now and then. I’ve documented both my daytime and nighttime skincare routines for you throughout the years, and I wanted to share an update on what I’m currently doing at night before bed. These are the steps I’m taking to care for my skin nightly and the products that I’m obsessed with at the moment.
STEP 1 CLEANSE
It’s so important to wash your face each and every single night, whether you’re wearing makeup or not (but especially if you’re wearing makeup). I’m currently using iS Clinical’s Cleansing Complex to strip my skin of any impurities and leave the surface extra clean. I love this cleanser because it’s super lightweight and works well to cleanse all skin types effectively. The last thing you want to do is get into bed with any grime or excess oils left on your face from throughout the day, so be sure to always take a few minutes to wash.
STEP 2 EXFOLIATION
Exfoliating is also a crucial part of a skincare routine because it ensures that you’re removing any dry skin particles and create a smoother appearance. Exfoliation can be done through a variety of products whether it be scrubs, peels or dedicated exfoliants. At the moment I’m a huge fan of Dr. Dennis Gross’ Alpha Beta Peel Pads, which are meant to be used daily. The two-step system has an exfoliant and an anti-aging neutralizer, which are both just pads that you swipe on until dry. If you prefer a different exfoliation method, be sure to read instructions because not all are meant to be used every day.
STEP 3 STEAMING
Using a steamer for your skin provides a surprising amount of benefits and it feels like a bit of a pampering session. Apart from being super relaxing, steam opens up your pores to help better absorb products and penetrate them deeper than beyond the surface. Steam also helps draw out any impurities such as blackheads, so that they are gently released from deeper layers of the skin. Steaming is a gentle and relaxing way for me to ensure that I have a healthy complexion.
Step 4 RETINOL
My final step before applying a hydrating overnight mask or a moisturizer is applying retinol as another anti-aging complex. My esthetician, Shani Darden, has an amazing retinol product that I worked my way to use every single night. Shani’s Resurface Retinol Reform helps to reduce and prevent wrinkles and rids of any acne scarring. A great retinol product will help resurface the overall texture of your skin to leave it smoother and visibly more youthful.
STEP 5 MASK
Of course, I don’t skip out on using my Summer Fridays Jet Lag mask to further hydrate and rejuvenate my skin. The super clean ingredients are excellent for packing into the skin after steaming because they’ll really get into the deeper layers and work to their full potential. I like to wear this in two ways in my night time routine. I can apply a visible layer for 10 minutes I just blot with a washcloth if necessary since there’s no need to wash it off! If I need extra hydration, I leave the jet lag mask on as an overnight mask and wake up in the morning to the dreamiest skin. If you opt to skin on the over night mask, don’t forget to moisturize so you’ll want to follow the next step.
STEP 5 MOISTURIZER AND EYE CREAM
One step to never, ever forget in a skincare routine is a moisturizer. I never want to dry out my skin as I sleep, so at night I use a moisturizer that’s a little thicker but still very lightweight and won’t clog my pores. I’m loving Dr. Dennis Gross’ Hydra-Pure moisturizer every night which is oil-free and gentle on my skin. I never forget to apply eye cream at night to prevent any dark circles or puffiness and I’ve always been a huge fan of iS Clinical’s Youth Eye Complex. It helps prevent any fine lines around the eye area and helps tighten without drying out the skin.
