You may have read my blog post about my long and detailed morning routine and now you’re curious about what I do at the end of the day. I am definitely a morning person, so I have a more robust AM routine to really set me up to be the most productive. My evening routine is a little more simple since I already feel relaxed and ready to wrap up the day.
My nighttime routine helps me unwind, relax, and get myself mentally and physically ready for the next day. It helps me prepare to have a good night sleep (with lots of REM and deep sleep) so that the following day is as good as it can be! Some nights I am so exhausted I just do my skincare routine and fall asleep, but on the nights when I do my full routine, here’s how it goes.
I like to eat dinner 2-3 hours before I go to sleep. This really helps me digest my food so I don’t get in bed feeling really bloated and uncomfortable. After I am done with dinner, I’ll have water or herbal tea until I go to sleep.
Dim Lights + Blue Light Blockers
Before I go to sleep, I start winding down. I dim the lights, flip on the night shift setting on my phone and limit my blue light exposure before I go to bed. I don’t know all the scientific details but you can read about it here and see about why you should limit blue light before you go to bed.
I have blue light blocking glasses I use to watch TV, I have a blue light protector screen on my phone, and I have red lights and night lights in my bedroom that I turn on before I go to sleep.
TV + Phone
In addition to dimming the lights and wearing blue light glasses, I try to monitor what I am watching on TV or looking at on my phone before I go to bed. For me, watching shows that are too dramatic before bed kept my mind too active. Same goes for looking at my phone — that one last peek at my emails before I go to bed only makes my mind start overthinking and stress about my to-do list for the next day. Instead, I try to end my night with a happy or lighthearted TV show and not look at work before I try to fall asleep.
Shower or Bath
Sometimes I take a shower in the morning, sometimes at night, or sometimes both. It really just depends how the day went. If I shower at night, I love a warm shower and then I’ll go to bed with my hair damp and let it air-dry overnight.
If I take a bath, I’ll put on a Summer Fridays face mask, add some bath salts, and try to relax. I get kind of bored so I never take baths for a really long time.

Things I Love
For bed, I absolutely must have my Slip Silk pillowcase and eye mask; they are the best and I can’t sleep without them. I also spray a little bit of lavender sheet spray on my sheets before I go to sleep and apply a little bit of Summer Fridays Vegan Vanilla Lip Butter Balm.
