How to Take Extra Care of Your Skin at Home

Steam Your Skin

I absolutely love steaming my skin! It’s been a total game changer, especially now that I have more time to do it. Steaming your skin opens up your pores, allowing the skin to really absorb products at deeper levels. So your toner, serums, and oils will penetrate well beyond the surface and your skin gets all of the benefits. I like to cleanse with the Summer Fridays Super Amino Gel Cleanser right before I use my steamer. You should always steam your skin after cleansing and exfoliating, but before any masks, serums, oils, or moisturizers. If you don’t have a steaming tool, you can still do so by boiling some water on your stove and standing over the heat it produces (once the stove is turned off of course).

Mask It Up

I’ve been masking more than ever as we practice social distancing. I’ve always been a huge fan of masks, and of course we started Summer Fridays with masks. During this time I’ve used our Overtime and R+R masks more often because I’m really trying to treat my skin and rejuvenate it. Both these masks target my biggest skincare concerns and help even out my skin’s tone and texture.

Boost Moisture

Keeping your skin extra moisturized and hydrated is super important, and I’m taking advantage of the time I have to let my skin soak it all up. I like finishing up my skincare routine with Jet Lag mask so that my face is extra moisturized, especially before I go to bed. I also apply our Lip Butter Balm so that any dryness on my lips is immediately gone!

Stay Hydrated

You’ve heard it before—good skin starts from the inside out! That means you can’t be dehydrated and expect to have glowing, radiant skin. Keep track of your water intake per day to make sure you’re drinking enough and hold yourself accountable. I like to fill a big Hydroflask with water throughout the day and keep it visible so that I always remember to drink it. If you really tend to forget, you can download a water-reminder app on your phone!

Take Your Vitamins

Again, keep in mind that what you’re putting into your body will show on the outside. I’ve been taking Olly vitamins for years now, and the skin gummies really help revitalize and treat your skin with the nutrients it needs. Make this a habit and you’ll be sure to see results.

Try Some Tools

If you’re not usually the type to incorporate tools into your skincare routine, now is the time! We can’t go get a facial, so the tools and techniques need to come from us now. I’ve used jade rollers and Gua Sha for a while now, and these easy-to-use tools really make a difference. You’ll notice your face is more defined, less puffy, and and radiant. These tools help boost circulation and encourage lymphatic drainage, and you’ll absolutely notice the difference.
