I’m a firm believer that the best approach to a healthier lifestyle is through baby steps. Aggressive cleanses and crash dieting really aren’t my style. I enjoy all my favorite foods in moderation and try to make the healthiest choices whenever possible.
Taking the healthy route is easier said than done. When I’m on-the-go, at a shoot, between meetings, or trying to make a meal out of an airport snack, it can get pretty difficult to determine the healthiest option available. “Should I go for a bag of trail mix or pita chips? A sandwich or a wrap? Green juice or green tea?”
Special K calls this indecision “food doubt.” I’ve partnered with them on this post to share with you all how I approach snacking when options are limited.
Special K revealed in their research that women spend 61 minutes a day questioning what they eat. (Sounds like a meme — totally isn’t.) That’s an hour a day just agonizing over food? Special K even discovered 1 in 2 women wish they didn’t think about food as much as we do. For me, the best option is to keep nutritious (but yummy) options on deck. No food doubt, no looking up calorie counts on my phone. Which is one reason I turn to Special K, plus their cereal options deliver various key nutrients like fiber, iron, folic acid and vitamins A, and C.
But Special K is more than just cereal. While I always keep Special K cereal in my pantry, it isn’t the best when I’m trying to kill a craving on the 405. People are always surprised by this but at any given time, I absolutely have a Special K bar in my bag. My favorite is the Special K Fruit and Salted Nut Protein Bars. The berries bring the sweetness, the nuts and oats fill you up, and the sea salt is just the added bonus.
I keep these bars in my bag, my car, my pantry, anywhere I can stash ’em. By having them at my fingertips, I don’t have to worry about finding a good option while I’m out and about. It’s super convenient to know that whether I’m stuck in traffic, editing a video, Netflix binging, or even at 40,000 feet, I have a snack on deck that gives me everything but regret.
Have any of you tried the Special K Fruit and Salted Nut Protein Bars? Am I the only one that packs snacks in their bag? Leave a comment if you’re about that protein-bar-in-your-purse life.
