Can you believe its already time for another NYFW? This year I’ll be enjoying the fashion week festivities with TRESemmé. That means behind-the-scenes access, runway beauty tips from the pros, hair trends for the upcoming season, and tons of other content I’m so excited to share with you guys! I have a lot of prep before I head off to New York and am already planning outfits, testing new products, and experimenting with day-to-night hairstyles.
Some of my favorite styles revolve around a simple ponytail. They’re perfect for a day of shows and events — chic enough to be dressed up, but still casual and modern enough for dinner and drinks. There’s so many ways to add interesting elements to a classic ponytail, I never get tired of creating new and interesting styles around this super easy base.
Time management is extremely important during Fashion Week. While I don’t go uber glam every single day, I like to make time to look and feel my best. With this hair tutorial I’m making my “Glam wasn’t built in a day” #hairstatment.
Sure, some days call for a 5 minute style or a simple tousle-and-go, but for the most part I’d rather schedule the time to make sure I feel confident and put together. For me, this all starts with my hair. When my hair looks good, I feel good. I feel confident going to events and I feel like I’m representing myself in the best way possible.
If you’re like me and enjoy taking a few extra minutes in the name of haute hair, share your #hairstatement with me on social media! Can you whip up an updo in two minutes flat? Cool! Do you need a solid 20 minutes on hair, no negotiating? Hey, that’s cool too! Make it a #hairstatement. Your hair, your time, your rules.
Now, let’s get into this knotted, textured ponytail that I know you guys will love. I start by parting out the front sections of my hair from the hairline to the ear and creating a low ponytail with the remaining hair. No need to make it super sleek, having a bit of texture keeps the look modern. Next take the two front sections, cross them over each other, and create a “knot.” Secure the edges with another hair tie or a few bobby pins underneath your ponytail.
Next comes the fun part. I use a large wand to add texture to my ponytail, focusing on the ends. Use your fingers to break apart the curls then reach for TRESemmé Tres Two Extra Hold Hair Spray for a strong hold with maximum fullness that will last all day. It’s water-free, won’t weigh hair down, and gets the job done without stiffness or stickiness.
Whether it’s an updo, beachy waves, or a creative take on the classic ponytail, I take my time with my glam. Why rush if you can help it? Leave a comment if you can relate to my “Glam wasn’t built in a day”#hairstatement. Got a different #hairstatement you wanna make? I’d love to hear it! Tell me a bit about your hair personality, can you get your look together in five minutes or are you more into a patient pampering session?
