As I’m sitting here on a 5 hour layover at London Heathrow airport, I have a bag full of stuff that I can’t fly without. I’d like to think of myself as an expert traveler so here are some things I always take with me
CLOTHING
I never travel in jeans. They are soooo uncomfortable especially on long flights when you need to sleep. I prefer wearing black yoga pants and a long sleeve shirt. I get really cold on flights, so I wear a leather jacket as well that elevates my athleisure outfit a little bit. I pair it with tennis shoes that are easy to slip on and off, so I don’t have to stop and tie my shoes during security checks or when I take them off on the plane. But for courtesy of others and to keep your toes on, be sure to wear socks or pack a pair of socks for your trip as well. I hate seeing bare toes next to me!
ACCESSORIES
Some planes don’t always offer blankets or they are pretty thin, I carry an UGG blanket with me that easily packs into my carry on bag along with a firm neck pillow so I don’t get kinks in my neck from sleeping.
CARRY ON BAG
I put everything inside of one small rolling bag from Longchamp. This bag is no longer available, but I love it so I hope you can find something similar. I put my purse, camera, cords everything in here so I don’t have to carry multiple bags. It is really compact, so it isn’t too large or too heavy to me to lift on my own.
THE GOODS
- ear plugs
- eye mask
- protein bar – quest are my favorite
- emergen-c – because planes are gross and full of germs so I drink this pre-flight to prevent getting sick
- sanitizing wipes – to wipe down the tray and arm rests
- melatonin – helps me fall asleep on long over night flights to adjust to local time zones faster
