With Coachella only a few days away, it’s only right that I start packing all of my beauty essentials. Before heading to the desert, I make sure to have certain beauty products on hand in order to survive the three-day long trip. The weather is already hitting the low ’90s in LA, so I could only imagine how the temperatures will be once I’m actually on the polo fields. In order to keep my skin safe and my hair tamed, I always make sure to bring the following along with me.
I obviously cannot forget to pack SPF! The sun during festival season is especially strong, so I always make sure to bring one for both my face and my body. A lot of my favorite makeup products are already infused with SPF for extra protection which is great as well. If you have sensitive skin like me, try to pick a sunscreen with an SPF of 35 or higher.
No matter how much setting spray or powder we like to use, we’re going to face an extreme amount of humidity at music festivals. To stay on the safe side, I like to keep some oil-blotting papers in my bag with me at all times. I travel from parties directly to the festival so I don’t have much time for a makeup touch-up. These sheets are a quick and hassle-free way to ensure that my makeup isn’t running down my face and their isn’t any excess shine on my skin.
To keep my skin refreshed throughout the day, I also make sure to pack a face mist. Apart from just feeling great to spray onto my skin, a good face mist is typically filled with a ton of nutrients beneficial ingredients such as aloe and zinc. Another plus, they can also be applied over your makeup and won’t cause it to get ruined.
You guys know I love my lip balm! For festivals wearing a lip balm is especially important because the weather can cause my lips to dry out more than they usually would. If I’m feeling like wearing more of a natural look, I’ll just wear lip balm alone rather than wearing any lipstick or lip gloss above. There’s also a ton of options with SPF in them for extra protection from the strong sun.
This one is a given. Our hair is bound to deal with some of the most intense heat and humidity it’ll ever face, so dry shampoo is an absolute necessity. To help keep it feeling fresh throughout the day, just add a few spritz and massage or brush it into your roots until it’s no longer visible. You’ll hide any signs of excess oils that we’re all bound to deal with.
The last thing I want it is for my mascara to be running down my face due to the heat, but I also still want to be able to wear some. That’s where my favorite waterproof formulas come in which are perfect for festival season. Swipe on a few coats and your lashes will be good to go and you don’t have to worry about it getting anywhere else on your face.
I definitely don’t like layering a ton of makeup on my face when the weather’s too hot, but one thing I do love is bronzer. The sun-kissed glow it gives off is extra flattering when the sun is actually shining all day long, plus it just makes your skin look super healthy. I like to contour my cheeks a little bit with a lightweight powder or liquid formula.
While it’s always important to clean off my makeup, it’s extra important to do so during festival season! The last thing I want to do is set my skin up to face a sudden breakout by making it prone to bacteria from the environment. We’re exposed to so much when we’re out there, plus we’re sweating in the heat, so the smart thing is to the immediately remove our makeup once we’re back from the festival each night.
