There’s something so elegant and timeless about a simple chignon bun. There’s nothing an updo can’t do, whether it’s to dress up an outfit, show off some statement jewelry, or hide day old hair. I’ll admit, when I see perfectly done buns on Instagram, they can look pretty intimidating. I found a pretty cool hack to make the perfect bun every time and wanted to share it with you all. It’s super simple and works every time.
To prep for this style I used the TreSemmé Expert Selection Repair and Protect 7 Shampoo and Conditioner. These have been my absolute go-to lately. I put my hair through a lot, with heated tools and constant styling. The TreSemmé Expert Selection Repair and Protect 7 Shampoo and Conditioner fight seven types of damage — brushing, blow-drying, bleaching, coloring, curling, flat-ironing and braiding. Both are created with Biotin to help repair hair inside and out.
To create the bun start with a ponytail. I like mine to be semi loose for a soft, romantic style. Next create a loose braid and secure it with a rubber band. Wrap the braid around your ponytail and secure it with a few bobby pins. Now you can use your fingers to gently pull apart the braid to get your desired style and dimension. Finish the style with TreSemmé Extra Hold Hairspray. It’s used by the pros and works incredibly without a sticky or stiff feeling.
You can use this same technique for top knots, half-up buns, double buns, and any other creative updo you can think of. Make your braid tighter for a modern, sculpted look or make it looser for a messy, bed head style.
If you’ve tried the TreSemmé Expert Selection Repair and Protect 7 Shampoo and Conditioner, the TreSemmé Extra Hold Hairspray, or this braided bun hack, how did it work for you? Leave your reviews and tips in the comments 🙂
