How To Detox After A Long Weekend

As much as we all love a holiday or a long weekend, we can feel pretty exhausted once the fun is over. While these are times to indulge, our bodies can go through a lot. When I feel like I’ve done too much during my free time, I make it a point to detox the following week. If you’re feeling a little slumped this week, keep on reading for how to get things back to normal.

Get Some Rest

In order to detox your body and set things back to normal, you’ll need to rest. Whether it’s taking a nap or sleeping in a few extra hours, just be sure to make the time to get some shut-eye. Our bodies naturally detox themselves during our sleep cycles, so this step is very important.

Drink Plenty of Water

If you’re feeling like your body needs to hit the reset button, then you’re probably dehydrated. Feeling exhausted and dehydration go hand in hand. Make it a point to drink some more water than you usually do and you’ll thank yourself later. Add some cucumber or lemon to your H2O if you’d like some flavor.

Sip Some Tea

Tea is another great way to detox, because you’re feeding your body some extra nutrients. There are a lot of teas out there that are formulated specifically for detoxing and cleansing. Ginger tea, milk thistle tea, lemongrass tea and dandelion tea are some of the best for getting the job done.

Do A Quick Workout

As much as you might not want to work up a sweat after a long weekend, it’s one of the best things for your body. Exercising removes toxins from your body and releases endorphins. You’ll feel refreshed and brand-new once you get through it.

Treat Your Skin

If your skin is looking tired and feeling dryer than usual, add some extra steps to your skincare routine. I use the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask to double-up on moisture and recharge my skin. You can also add an essence or a serum with hyaluronic acid to your regime for added results.
