Breakouts suck. I am 30 years old and the occasional pimple is something I still have to deal with. In the last 20 years of coming up with solutions for how to fix a breakout, get rid of a pimple or help to heal a blemish faster – I’ve tried everything there is to offer. Some products can be really pricy, but there are some cheap and inexpensive ways to help too.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Because Apple Cider Vinegar is alkaline, it balances the pH of your skin which prevents bacteria from entering your pores.
Rub 1-part ACV and 3-parts water onto the skin with a cotton ball and wash off with warm water after 10 minutes
Lemon juice has an astringent effect on the skin which means it contracts the skin, helping reduce and dry up oil. Although lemon juice is great for riding excess oil, don’t leave it on for too long or you risk drying out your skin
Yogurt and Honey
Yogurt acts like a toner to calm irritated skin and prevent breakouts all while moisturizing the skin. Because yogurt contains acid, it helps to deter bacteria from your skin.
Mix together and apply 1 tablespoon yogurt and 1 tablespoon honey on your skin for 10-15 minutes
The vitamin C and acids in orange peels help to remove bacteria. Like lemons, oranges are also astringents so they are great at removing excess oil from the skin.
Blend 2 orange peels with one tablespoon of water until it turns into a paste. Leave paste on the skin for 20 minutes or until firm.
The easiest and least expensive way to prevent acne is by simply not touching your face. Touching your face allows bacteria to enter your pores and cause a breakout. Keeping a travel-sized hand sanitizer handy is also helpful. Use your hand sanitizer to wipe down your hands and phone as often as possible.
