While in Capri, Italy I went to La Parisienne a local shop sitting in the town square since 1906. This boutique is famous for their signature cut. I guess I never really gave much thought to the origin of the word Capri pant, but now that I know it seems so fitting for this classic style.
Capri pants became famous from the Italian island where this style gained popularity and has remained timeless for many decades. The boutique is known for their custom Capris made for Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor. But the original style was made for Jacqueline Kennedy in the 1960s and is now dubbed the Jackie O pant.
My trip to Capri was short, but to get a custom pair of pants made to measure can be fitted in just a day. The in house seamstresses crafted a pair of white stretch cotton pants for me, seen here in the photos, along with a pair of white shorts.
They had an array of fabric options, colors and patterns but I wanted a pair that I would wear for years to come and pack every time I revisit one of my favorite places in Italy. If you are traveling to Capri, I highly recommend stopping by La Parisienne and get a pair of capri pants made and embrace your inner Jackie O on your visit to the Amalfi Coast.
